I am an alumna, I am soon to be a graduate from Batesville High School. An alumna is a woman who is a graduate or former student of a specific school, college, or university. I am a woman who is a former student of BHS, and will be a graduate May 15, 2015.
After I graduate I will be attending UACCB and I will be continuing my life as a alumna, after UACCB I will transfer to a university at UCA to become a dental hygienist in my future continuing my life as an alumna.
Life as alumna should be very successful because I am going to graduate and going to a college, then after a university. My mother however is not an alumna, she dropped out her 11th grade and moved in with her boyfriend which by the age of 18 she was pregnant with my oldest brother. Other than the fact that she got pregnant she finally realized she needed a job and got her license in hair dressing. My mother told me she took the hard way and she didn't want that from me. Though it didn't change who she was to me, she still was able to accomplish many things
Today I am an alumna and I'm proud of myself for the woman I have become independently with a little help on the way. On the date of May 15 as I walk out onto that field, and graduate that night I only hope my mother will tell me that she's proud of me and wishes me the best. I will graduate with all my friends and everyone that night will either be an alumna or an alumnus, but together we are alumni.

Free topic #2 After High School
After
a great year at Batesville High I never thought I'd say I'm going to miss it.
I'm going to miss my friends the ones I picked out and have stood by my side
for many years, I can't thank them enough for all they have done for me. The
trouble we got in the covering of secrets and the trust between all of us and
the part that we may never see each other again, however I feel as when I do
see them again it'll feel the same as it once did when we all use to just hang
and talk on and on.
After
this year I believe I will be working full time at Mi Ranchito until I find a
new job whenever that will come, and during the fall I will be attending UACCB
for 2 years until I transfer to UCA. There I will hope to become a dental
hygienist after I know for sure that is the career path I want to go, or
wherever I will be, for I may not like the field of dentistry. I do know I want
to be successful and happy where I go, I hope to be positive in my career and
enjoy the ride along the way.
Throughout
my ride along the way I know I am going to walk into new friendships, old
friendships, and some tough obstacles. It is up to be to overcome all of them
and be brave and talk to people, and make the friends I want and keep the old
ones close and hopefully not to lose contact with each other. For my new
friends I only hope they will be long-lasting and truthful never liars and in
need I will help them and when I’m in need I hope they will help me too.
This
year may be ending but I’m going to miss everyone I have met at Batesville High
including my teachers as well, for all they want for me is success and
happiness, and to graduate first. Throughout my years I hope to look back and
be happy with the decisions I made throughout my high school life and hopefully
it will do great things for me. My experience at Batesville is like no other
and I loved it here but I would never go through all again maybe just a glimpse
back into the past. Until next year starting college life we will see how far
it takes me.

Free topic #1 cellphones
Almost everyone has a cellphone, kids younger than I was when I first got my phone are having iPhone's and iPad's. All this new technology advancing is making children more lazy I believe, because more kids now that have this advancing phones are playing games on their phones, their parents are downloading and buying apps for their children. The children waste their times playing on their cellphones that they rarely ever go outside to play, we now have the Xbox and other video games that keep them entertained, but is that really what we need?
Children soon won't ever want to leave their t.v's, and we wonder why so many children are obese and it's because kids aren't outside running around loosing all of their weight they gain from eating, instead they are laying around and slowing down their metabolism increasing their chance to become obese. Children need to become more active throughout their lives, by fishing, hunting, and getting bruises. They say cellphones have taken over this century and I believe it has, so as for video games too. They both have and equal play in the new technology we have.
You can hand anyone a cellphone and they can just text and text, but when a pencil is handed to some children they just go blank they have had that technology throughout their lives so much they rely on it to provide it for them, the spell check, the internet access when they need it, and also the calculator provide on their phones for equations. Almost everything is handed to them nothing earned, but what does this teach them about life what are we preparing them for. As I see most children rely on their cell phones to do everything for them. My first cell phone was a razor flip phone it was hot pink and you could never do as much as you could on that compared to an iPhone.
Cell phones are advancing as well as video games and computers, I just hope that are generation is ready for it and is mature enough to handle it, as it will keep advancing throughout our lives. Children are becoming lazy and as the technology advances I hope children will be given a chance to go out and play and stop staying cooped up inside with their games.

Prom
My opinions on prom were very positive on prom, as it is the one night all girls can dress up. It is the night where girls get their hair and make up done and wear either really big dresses, skin tight long dresses, or short tight dresses, or short big dresses. Either way all girls on this night want to look their best on this night.
They say prom is the climax of your junior and senior year, it is the time for you to be the princess you've always wanted to be, but so many people stress about dresses and where are they going to get this dress and how much is it. They also stress about their hair and make up of who can do it and how much time do they have, most people will start making their hair appointments and make up appointments really early just to make sure they have everything in place.
As for me my grandmother bought my dress and my shoes, my friend Betzi who I took to prom with me did my hair in big curls, as she did hers the same way. Another friend of mine who also works with me, Jessi did my make up because one day she hope to be a cosmetologist and attend a cosmetology school where she can get a degree doing something she loves and is very good at. My night was fun as we took many pictures and laughed a ton, as we got to prom we danced jumped around and had fun.
My opinion on prom is very positive because I did have fun that night and it wasn't stressful at all. As I had everything planned out for that night and I wore a long blue laced dress and Betzi wore a short black and blue dress that fit her perfectly. We both had so much fun even though we left pretty early and I would go back and live that night over and over again.

Why not? - word of the year
My word for this year was why not? It was a perfect word for this year, since it did get a lot of questions on it. People would ask me why did I pick the word and I told them why not? To me why not represented a new point of view, to see the world in a new perspective. Throughout the year I used why not with foods that didn't look so good but tried them anyways, I even went horse back riding for 15 miles and went through a parade. Although my back hurt and my butt I thought why did I do that and then I realized my word of the year why not. I'm proud of the word I've chosen this year it really fit me and this year has been a ton of fun doing everything I possibly can, because to me it represents that I can do anything I want and try new things and people may ask me why and I will tell them why not every time.

BHS History
The year 1968 was a great year for Scott Wood, this was the year that he graduated from Batesville High School. As stated from Scott Wood, "High school students lead a much more sheltered life in Batesville than it seems to be the case now. The things the administration paid attention to were different compared to now. Case in point: I was sent home the first day of class my Junior year because I wasn't wearing socks, but nearly every red blooded boy who drove to school had a gun in the back window of his pickup. Smoking for students was allowed between classes and at lunch in designated areas on campus. Paddling or detention were the two most common punishments for rule breakers or late for class."
Although a lot has changed since Scott was in school our teachers and principle still have prepared and influenced Scott in a positive way according to Scott Wood, "I received a very competitive education at BHS. It prepared me for college and the world after college."
At BHS during Scott Wood's eleventh grade year the school integrated and his class elected their first black class officer; Claxton Watkins was class treasure of 1968.
Scott Wood's life at BHS was a very great experience for him and was happy to talk with us, as he provided us with good evidence and information.

Book Review
My book was The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, this was book written about aliens who invaded the earth starting in sections of waves. The first wave was the arrival of the aliens the big star ships all of the beginning to this story. Cassie thinks she could be the last human on the earth but it could be that everyone has died out by now and they are all hiding from the next wave that may hit. Cassie tells the story in her view of what has happened and by the third wave evryone was dead including her mother who had gotten sick from the virus. She was seperated from her family, but becomes reunited with Sammy her younger brother in the fight for their lives they run away to look for life. This book is very interesting and if you are inerested in the supernatural world this is perfect for you, honestly I would give this book a 7 out of 10 due to the fact that it jumped around a lot.
